Mecha Project

Mechanical Warfare:

Rather than attributes and skills, the game could include just a set of skills, which function more like the attributes from the Mayhem game.

There are three main categories for these skills, physical, tech, and personality. Each skill group has four sub-skills.

Physical: Dodge, Shot, Melee, Sneak
Tech: Piloting, Medtech & Chemistry, Electronics & Mechanics, and Computer Tech.
Personality: Charm, Negotiation, Perception, Willpower.

Each skill will get a rating, S, A, B, C and D. Each rating has an associated die.
S-d12, A-d10, B-d8, C-d6, D-d4 Each character will end up having 1 S skill, 3 A skills, 4 B Skills, 3 C skills, and one D skill.

The first step is to choose which is the character's best set, their second best, and their worst. For example, Micha the mech-pilot chooses tech first, physical second, and personality third.

The best group get S, A, A, and B. Micah allocates them as follows:

TECH:
Piloting, S- d12
Medtech/Chemistry, A- d10
Computer Tech, A- d10
Electronics/Mechanics, B- d8

The second group get A, B, B, and C. Micah does the following.

PHYSICAL
Shot, A- d10
Dodge, B- d8
Melee, B- d8
Sneak, C- d6

The third group get B, C, C, and D.

PERSONALITY
Perception, B- d8
Willpower, C- d6
Negotiation, C- d6
Charm, D- d4

That's the full extent of character creation, outside of equipment. Skill checks are done with a single roll of the die, including equipment modifiers, which account for the rest of the strategy in the game. The use of most equipment requires a skill check from the above. Equipment, in the same way, will generally demand the appropriate skill checks.

Settle down there Maugh. One game at a time. Getting bored with what you are able to do? Post maps for your lands! Storytellers love to have maps. It makes the game much better.

Heh. I have other projects, but occasionally there are ideas I don't want to lose. Recording them somewhere, here, where I can get to them later, is a good thing. Plus, Matt and I periodically talk about stuff like this. Most often they go nowhere, but it does give me an opportunity to keep notes in a way that is semi-organized.

heh. funny how things work. I do wish I had access to the old middie forums, but *shrug* no real loss not having it.
